Entries for August, 2007

Have you ever felt like your brain was stolen from you? Picture this: your mind is blank and even if you know the answer to the question you just can't answer right away. That was what happened in my short job interview last Monday. Here's an excerpt:

Interviewer: What are your hobbies? What do you do in your leisure time?

Me: I love to read.

Interviewer: What was the last book you read?

The room was silent for about 10 seconds.

Me: The last book I read was... written by Sidney Sheldon. The title of the book is... ... ... Nothing Lasts Forever.

If I were in the position of the interviewer I would think the applicant (i.e. me) was making up her answer. Imagine this, while I was being interviewed, I was swaying the "fun" office chair I was sitting on to and fro until I realized what I was doing. What was wrong with me that day? I swear, it just felt like I was not my normal self. I was able to answer her questions but it just took me a long time to answer which was weird considering that she was asking me questions with answers I know by heart. It seemed like there was a totally different person being interviewed.

Well, after the interview, the HR officer told me that the company just hired 2 applicants for the research associate position (the position I was applying for) last July 16. "So, why did you ask me to take the exam today?" was the initial thought I had right after I heard what she said. But of course there was more to what she just said. She added that they will process my application further and that they would just call me for another interview in September since that is when they will be hiring trainees. That is definitely alright with me which is why right after the interview, AC and I went around Makati to inquire on job openings. We handed out our resume to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. I do hope they hire us.

My sisters and I are fans of Fall Out Boy which is why we check their website for updates every now and then. A couple of weeks ago, we saw their tour schedule and they are coming to the Philippines on September 21. Right after we saw the schedule, I logged on to the website of Ticketnet to view the ticket prices since the concert was to be held in Araneta Coliseum. I must see them perform live. When I checked the website though, the tickets were not on sale yet. I checked the website yesterday and tickets are now on sale. When I saw the ticket prices, the grin on my face slowly turned into a pout. Patron seats cost 3890 PHP and 3120 PHP.

How can I watch when I am so broke? I am also unemployed. Why couldn't Fall Out Boy come last year when I had greater purchasing power? My only option is to ask my folks and I don't want to because I don't want to and I can't. I am not a student anymore and I have been spending money given to me by my folks excessively. Huhuhu...

* Santa, I know Christmas is several months away but if you're reading this, please give me a ticket for the Fall Out Boy concert. I think I've been really, really good these past few days.

I had to write this essay for Singapore Airlines and it took me such a long time to come up with one. It just seemed so difficult to write. The first dilemma I had was thinking of a topic to write about since the instruction given to me was to write about any topic of my interest. It was suppose to be easy considering that I had the freedom to discuss anything but at the same time it was difficult because I just couldn't think of anything. I even had to go ask my dad for suggestions and he said I could write about fashion but I just didn't feel like writing about it. I thought about writing why I would like to be a rockstar but it just didn't seem appropriate. After an entire day of thinking, I decided to write about the top 3 places I must see before I die. My dilemma did not end there however. I still couldn't write after deciding on the topic to work on. I was even on the brink of submitting the journal entry I have about the same topic because I had to meet a deadline. But after hours of trying and trying, I was able to write something. Nothing special but I had to settle with it.

Moving on to another topic, I have a new crush. Haha. This sounds so High School.  Anyway, I saw The Click Five's new video Jenny and noticed that the music sounds different from their previous songs and that the band has a new lead singer who I have to admit, is such an eye candy.  (Oh, I am such a girl. )His name's Kyle Patrick and he's got such a nice voice. I was not a fan of the band before but I guess I can call myself one now. The band's new music sounds more rock compared to the previous ones and I am liking it.

I am still pissed at the fact that I am not going to see Fall Out Boy perform.   I envy my sister Chelsea because she is going to the concert. But if The Click Five is coming to Southeast Asia, at least I would have something to look forward to.
