Hair Removal
Yesterday was Mother's Day and so we went out. However, unlike our usual trips, this wasn't planned. I only or should I say we (the kids) only learned about it the night before. My mom told us that we were going to Caylabne Bay, a resort in Cavite. So that means swimming. And swimming means removing my leg hair. Of course I would have to do that. I'll be exposing my legs with my swim suit. So what did I do? I used my depilatory cream for removing my leg hair. The problem is you test the cream first on a small portion of your skin and wait for 24 hours before re-applying it even if you have used it before because you might just get allergies. I was not able to do a test anymore because I was only given short notice of our trip and so what happened? At first, my legs were ok. Then, I saw two strands of hair left on my right leg. I re-applied the cream. That's when it started to hurt. So, I immediately rubbed it with my wet damp cloth and dressed up. When we got to the place, my right leg had red spots. And it was stinging. I was so worried. What if those spots stay there permanently? What will I do? My mom would never allow me to remove my leg hair again if she finds out what happened. And of course I will still need to remove my leg hair under certain circumstances. So, what's the lesson of the story? 1. Always follow instructions. 2. Learn to accept yourself by not having to worry about what other people will say about you. In my case, that means not getting rid of my leg hair. I can do number 1. I'm not sure about number 2. I mean, it's not that I don't love myself. But what can I do? I'm a hairy 18 year old who like a lot of girls is a victim of a society that sets a standard on how girls or even women should look like. I just don't want to be teased like those girls I read in a teen magazine.
