Entries for August, 2006

A cake was delivered to my house on the day of my birthday last week. It didn't say who it was from. It just had:"Happy 21st Birthday Louella" on it. Thinking it was from my High School friends who are fond of giving surprises, I sent them text messages saying thanks. They said it was not from them. Ok. So who could have sent it? Up to now, I still have no clue as to whom it was from and I feel bad about it because I can't even thank the person.

This may seem really useless, but I still want to say thanks. To whoever sent the cake, it was good. Thanks a lot.

I have been commuting to school since freshman year but I never liked riding jeepneys. I prefer riding the FX or the MRT because when you ride a jeepney, all the pollution gets to you and by the time you get to your destination, your hair is messy and you smell horrible. Last Friday though, I had no choice but to ride a jeepney because I was going to be late for school.

I don't know if I smelled like smoke when I got to class or if my hair got all messed up after the ride.  I  just didn't care anymore. All I know is that  that ride made me despise the idea of having to ride the jeep all the more. I was held up and  I was sitting in the middle of the two hold-uppers. They didn't hurt me but they got my phone. It's an old phone but just because it's an old phone doesn't mean it's ok for it to be stolen. The hold-uppers said they needed it for some kid who was in the hospital. Whatever. It's probably just a gimmick. I just can't help but think about why some people would resort to doing such. Why, because they're poor and they need money? There are a lot of other people out there who can barely live but they don't steal from other people. They just work and work really, really hard. I'm trying to put myself in the position of the hold-uppers assuming that they're poor and I just don't think stealing or doing anything that abrogates the rights of other people is justified. It's just wrong.

Anyway, the experience was really scary. I think I'm ok now but it may take a long time before I can ride a jeep again.
