Entries for March, 2011

It was back to reality for me on Sunday since it was a working day for me, but what transpired on Saturday is still fresh in my memory. So fresh, that I still can't stop talking about it.

As I have mentioned in my last entry, Saturday, February 26, was the day I have long been waiting for because I wanted to see Super Junior perform again. So you can just imagine how I felt when I got an email from my editor on Friday saying that I have to do overtime work on Saturday, the same day as Super Show 3 to cover the Philippine Development Forum in Sofitel. The forum starts in the morning and will end at 6 p.m.  Super Show 3 was to start at 7 p.m. I did not really have to stay until 6 because there was another reporter,  assigned to cover the event. I was assigned to go to the event, mainly to help by doing interviews during the coffee break and lunch break. I was not in the mood to go though because my day was already planned out. And besides, we were already told by the organizers that we won't be allowed to be part of the forum nor mingle with the participants of the forum since there was a press conference scheduled at 5 p.m. I was feeling all the stress after reading the email.

I told my editor that I had something to do at 6 for Saturday but I was told that I still had to cover the event. She said, I could leave early though.

Prinz (the other reporter assigned to cover) and I arrived at Sofitel at around 11 a.m. When we got there, we saw a Finance official who told us that the media was not allowed to be part of the forum nor wait outside the briefing room. Still, Prinz and I decided to wait for sources we may talk to. While waiting, we were approached by one of the organizers who told us the area was off-limits to the press and we were escorted to the venue for the press con. We were told that was where we could stay. And that was signal for me to go. I sent a text message to my editor and told her about the situation and I was free to go. Woot!

I arrived in Araneta at past 4 and when I called my sister, she was already inside. The gates to Araneta were opened at 4 p.m. I got in there 5-ish since there was a queue.

Super Show 3 started at 7 p.m. What can I say? If I thought Super Show 2 was amazing, well Super Show 3 was even more amazing. There were still video clips and the stage pretty much looked the same except for a bigger rotating platform set in the middle of the stage.  I noticed too there were more fireworks this year.  And unlike last year, some members were dancing in the air, thanks to their harnesses. The members also interacted more with the audience this time as they got fan cameras to take pictures of themselves with the fans.

I did not watch fancams of Super Show 3 in other countries prior to watching the concert except for their "No Other" performance and  Heechul's imitation of Lady Gaga so the rest of the show was a surprise for me. I liked the introductions especially Yesung's. He said:"Hi" and pointed the mic to the audience so we could say "Hi" to him as well. He then said:"Hello" and we gave the same greeting. He then talked gibberish, which we could not repeat because, well, it was gibberish. I just thought that was really funny. Shindong's was hilarious as well. He asked the crowd to say: "Ohhhhh..." and the crowd complied. And then he asked the crowd to cough. And the fans once again did as told. After that, he said:"Good." The Super Junior members sure know how to make their fans laugh.

But of course, Super Show 3 won't be complete without their synchronized dance moves which they showed in different songs. What I particularly liked though is the group's performance of "Shake It Up". I've never seen videos of them perform that so I really enjoyed watching it. Plus, I like that song a lot.

Eunhyuk's performance of Jay Sean's "Down" was also perfect.  He did not have a solo performance in Super Show 2 last year so it was good to see him have the stage for himself. He is such a good dancer. The guy's a dancing machine.

Henry's performance of Justin Bieber's "Baby" got the crowd dancing. I am no Bieber fan but I sang along to Henry's performance. He played the song on the piano before dancing by the way and I thought that was really cool. It is no surprise that he's in Berklee College of Music.

Towards the end of the show, Leeteuk asked us how we felt. "Are you happy?" he asked. To this, we in the crowd all responded: "Yes!" I was really happy to be there. Standing there for three hours (excluding the time I waited for them) was all worth it to see them give an entertaining show. While I was there, everything I was worried about vanished like bubbles. I was just really happy. I don't know if there will still be a Super Show 4. Some are saying some members may have to start their military service this year. I've seen Super Junior twice, but if there will be a Super Show 4, I still wouldn't want to miss it. I'll definitely watch them again.

I saw Red Riding Hood with Prinz and Ana on Friday night and I thought it was ok. I did not read reviews prior to seeing the film and it turns out, not a lot of people liked it. Anyway, I was not able to guess who the werewolf was and maybe that's one reason why I thought it was ok. It was not predictable as how some movies tend to be.

Oh, and another reason why I thought it was ok was because of Henry (played by Max Irons). He's really attractive. In the film, he was being arranged to marry Valerie (Amanda Seyfried). Valerie however, was not willing to marry him because she was  is in love with another man, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez). I told Prinz that if I were in Valerie's position, I wouldn't refuse the arranged marriage. I would definitely pick Henry over Peter.

Haha. New crush alert. Oh, and he looks like Kyle Patrick, doesn't he?

Just the kind of distraction I need to forget about the past week.

I am not really prepared to discuss what has transpired at work yet.  To keep it short, I have been moved to another assignment, to my first beat. I am not ok with it. That's why I need all the distraction I can get.
