Entries for January, 2006

When my classmate told me a couple of months ago that BSB was having a concert here in Manila, I wasn't really that excited. For one, my taste in music has changed. It's not that listening to pop music will make me puke. I still like pop music. It's just that I've been listening more to rock and emo lately. Apart from that, I wasn't sure if I knew someone who would want to watch it with me. The concert tickets were quite expensive. Patron seats cost 5000 bucks. General admission tickets cost 500 bucks. I wasn't sure if I have a friend who will be willing to spend money for that concert considering that most of my friends have outgrown their interest in boybands. But just last Friday, I went to Araneta Coliseum to watch BSB perform live with Christel.

Watching BSB perform was fun. I do not regret having done this at all, even it means revealing my liking for boybands and being teased because of it. Better to be teased than to pretend I don't like them when I actually like them. I mean, I grew up listening to the songs of the Backstreet Boys and in the future, I would like to tell my grandchildren (if ever I have grandchildren) stories about my childhood, the music I was listening to, the clothes I was wearing, the places where I would hang out with my friends, stuff like that. If I didn't see the concert I know I'd be missing a lot considering that they sang their old hits, the ones I liked particularly and that they danced which is what I've always wanted to see them do. Imagine if I decided not to see this concert and 10 years from now, BSB returns to Manila to do a concert. It wouldn't be as great because they'll be old and won't be able to do their dance moves. Sure, their concert here may not be as grand as that in the Madison Square Garden where they're in costumes and the stage looks really cool with gadgets that can make them dance in the air but their performance was still great. The Backstreet Boys may not be as big as they were before, but they can still make an audience have a good time. In the words of a BSB fan, this simply means the Backstreet pride is still alive. (Surely this will damage my image again.  Well, at least I'm not being a poser.)

Here are some concert pics by the way which I got from Allieli who went to the concert as well.
